IMATS Haul Product Review: Morphe Purple Sable Brush Set

When I told my sister that I'm going to IMATS, she asked me to pick up an inexpensive brush set so she can use it for traveling. I walked around and found that Morphe Brushes had the best deal with pretty decent quality. I picked up the Purple Sable Set with Shimmer Case. They sell it on their website for $29.99 but I managed to get it for $25! Who can go wrong with a $25 brush set?

I found the softness in the bristles amazing. However, when I opened it at home, I found that some bristles were already frail. I also found there to be random marks on the handles - maybe due to packaging and handling but I feel like for a good brush set, there should not be any type of marks. Regardless, I shouldn't expect that much from a brush set that's $25. All in all, I think the quality of these brushes were worth the $25 and I think this is a good brush set for someone who just wants to use it and dump it when it wears out and then buy another. But for someone who wants a brush set that would stay in shape for 3-5 years, I would recommend getting another brush set or purchasing brushes individually from their Studio PRO line.

This brush set pretty much has everything for someone who doesn't wear a lot of makeup and just want some basic brushes in their vanity.

Makeup of the Day: v. IMATS

I was quite happy with my makeup of the day for IMATS so I decided to post it! I went with a classic look. I kept my palette neutral with warm tones where I used golds, browns and blacks. I kept my eyes very soft because I wanted to hold a bold lip red/pink lip. I would describe the look classy but sassy :)

 Here's what I used:

Internationl Makeup Artist Tradeshow Toronto 2013

My first experience at the International Makeup Artist Tradeshow (IMATS) in Toronto was a great success! I had mixed emotions going to it first and I didn't know what I should expect. It turns out that everyone was super friendly and I learned a lot from attending the sessions and speaking to other industry experts. I even saw a few familiar faces from Ottawa that attended the show this year!

Here's my outfit and I'm ready to go!

I went with a few friends and our goal was to go there early so we can shop while it's quiet. I got there around 10am and it was already packed! The busiest booth was Makeup Forever, of course. At that time, I really didn't want to wait
to purchase my products so I took that time to walk around to see what's out there and went back 30 minutes later. When I went back, the booth quieted down and after submitting my order, it only took 15 minutes to pay which was amazing because some people around me said they waited about an hour to pay for their products. Some other vendors that were there included: MAC, Morphe brushes, OCC, Motives, Nigel's Beauty Emporium, Temptu, Royal Langnickel, Jordane Cosmetics, and Minx lashes.

Other than amazing shopping and great deals on makeup, I was extremely wow'ed with all the special effects makeup that was going on around the show. Seeing such talented people work on models has given me a next level of appreciation for their talent and artistic skills. I also give kudos to models who spent 4-5 hours sitting down or standing to let various makeup artists put their ideas and thoughts to life.

Here are some photos of the art work that I took during the show:

Here's my favourite one created by Makeup Forever:
