MOTD: It's the most wonderful time of the year!

Hey everyone!

I began feeling more festive lately. Probably due to the 20 cm of snow that we received in the past week and rushing to get some last minute Christmas shopping done. Now that it's a little slower at work, it means I have more time to play around. Check out today's MOTD dedicated to the holiday season. I went with a soft cut crease by using eye shadow only. Then I layered my eye lids with some glitter and paired it with a classic red lip. Enjoy!

I hope this inspires some of you to add glitter and spice your holiday this year!

Introducing the one and only NEW NAKED 3 Palette (by Urban Decay)

I was one of the lucky girls that got her hands on one of the new Urban Decay Naked 3 palettes. There were only 280 palettes sent to Sephora stores. There has been so much hype surrounding this palette in the last couple of months but is it really worth it? Here's my take on it.

Having previously worked with the Urban Decay Naked palette and the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette, I must say this third one is a little different. The colours are more pink based. This is perfect for those who have a yellow or pink undertone as it reflects nicely against your skin tone. There are a variety of finishes ranging from shimmer, sparkle, and matte. The matte browns are perfect for those who want a natural look.

Urban Decay Naked 3

Pros:
  • Versatile colours that can transform from day to night
  • Added brush allows for easy travel
  • Variety of finishes: matte, shimmer, sparkle
  • Gorgeous packaging with 3D font

Cons
  • Most colours are pink based which may not be fit for all skin tones
  • The sparkly shadows came out too little chunky so you have to press the pigment onto the skin for the sparkles to stick
  • Sparkles may not be fit for all ages

Final thoughts: I like the palette for some of the colours and I absolutely love the chic packaging. But other than that, I wish there was more to it. Urban Decay did a great job in creating buzz and hype around the palette. I wish there were more extreme tones in the palette. Similar to the previous two palette, there were great tones in colours. You got some extremely light and some extremely dark colours. In this palette, a lot of the tones are so similar to each other that it's more difficult change a look drastically using the same palette. I also love to use shimmery eye shadows as my highlight. In this palette, the lightest colour is matte which disappointed me just a little. This palette is definitely worth it to those who want a very natural look because you can use a lot of those colours to create a soft eye. However, for those who want to create more dramatic looks, you may be better off sticking with the Naked 1 or Naked 2.

IMATS Haul Product Review: OCC Lip Tar in Hoochie

I absolutely love OCC products for their value. I've had a few lip tars in the past and they last, literally, FOREVER. You use so little and it gets you so far. The creamy, liquid texture provides some moisture to your lips and it blends so easily.

I recently discovered the OCC's Lip Tar in Hoochie when I visited the Toronto Eaton Centre's Sephora. They had the full OCC line with products that we did not have in our store.

OCC Lip Tar in Hoochie

The Pluses:

This colour provides you the perfect purple shade with the right amount of cool tones. If you want to wear purple but do not want a dramatic look, then Hoochie is the colour for you!

Check out my pics:

Hoochie naturally.
As you can see, the product completely covered all my beauty marks on my lips, which future demonstrates the pigment it provides.

Hoochie ombre'd
To add a bit more drama, I decided to play up the colour by doing an ombre look. I actually used a darker purple eyeshadow on the outer corners and outline of the lip and used a frosty white eyeshadow for the centre of my lips.

The minuses:
I love the colour and pigment payoff but I must admit that the product did bleed quite a bit. Most likely do to the fact that it's a "tar" consistency and super "liquid-y". This problem could be easily fixed using their clear lip tar which is an essential oil that you can use like a primer to prevent the product from moving. Or you can use a coloured lip liner or a transparent anti-feather lip liner to old the product in place.

Regardless of the minuses, I still love this colour and the product and I would definitely recommend it to others.
